introduction
I did it - eventually!!
On a day too hot for running, I crossed the finish line in the Mall! At 17 miles I was on target for 5 hours but after 3 miles with no water at the stations, I began to feel decidedly queer and had to walk/run the remaining 9 miles, eventually finishing in just over 6 hours. A disappointing time, but I didn't hit the fabled "WALL" and I raised over £5000.00 for my two charities. A huge thank you to all those who sponsored and supported me - especially those friends and family who lined the streets of London - it was so good to see you en route!
Never again! (Or maybe...........)

the charities
The Anthony Nolan Trust
charity reg. no. 803716
The Anthony Nolan Trust provides lifesaving donors for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant. Since 1974 they have helped to give more than 4000 children and adults a new chance of life. Money raised will be used for research and to encourage new donors for the register.
Lindfield Christian Care Home
Compton House
charity reg. no. 802108
I have been working as a nursing assistant and an administrative assistant at this home for over a year now.
Compton House Christian Nursing Home has been established by a committee of individual members of 3 Lindfield Churches as a non-profit making charity. They provide nursing care for up to 26 elderly residents. Their aim is to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all the Residents, whether they are members of the Lindfield community or from the community at large, who have made Compton House their home. Privacy, dignity, respect and choice are all central to the delivery of holistic care for each Resident.
Money raised will go towards the current needs of the Home and the Residents. The kitchen at Compton House needs to be fully refurbished in order to continue to provide a quality menu for the residents. Nursing equipment is always needed - either new or replacement. For example, £50 would buy a pressure mat and £500 would buy a much needed electric profiling bed.
